Recital Information
The annual recitals are held in June to end our school year. Participation in the recital is optional; however for most students, it is the highlight of the year. After a student has worked hard all year, it is a feeling of personal accomplishment to perform on stage beautifully costumed before family and friends. This special stage experience also helps build poise and self-confidence.
TIPS FOR RECITAL DAY:
- For wrinkly tu-tus, hang you tu-tu upside down in the bathroom - the steam from showers will soften the wrinkles. Hanging it upside down will keep it full and fluffy.
- To get scuff marks off ballet / tap shoes - Mr. Clean Magic Eraser really is magic!
- Label everything with your name! (Shoes, bags, camera cases, etc)
- Doors open 45 minutes before shows begin - dancers should arrive with hair and make-up already done.
- For multiple costume changes, keep each costume on a hanger with all its accessories in a ziplock baggie (tights, hairpieces, gloves, etc).
- Dancers have their own assigned seat with their class. Kinderdancers (3-5 year olds) may sit with their familes AFTER they have performed.
2010 Rehearsal Dates: TBA - traditionally May 2010
2010 Recital Dates: June 5 & 6, 2010
Rehearsals: TBA
Recitals: The Palace Theatre, Albany, NY
Each class will have a costume for the recital and each student who participates in the recital will be measured and an order placed for them. Students are measured during class in November and December and costume orders are placed by the studio in early January. A $25 costume deposit is due December 1, 2009. The balance is due April 1, 2010. Please check with the office if you have a question about your costume fee or order.
This year, we are including tights with the recital costume free of charge if your teacher chooses!
It is our policy that students with overdue balances may not take their costumes home until the balance is paid. Once we place costume orders in January, students are responsible for any balance due. In addition, please check with your teacher to find out what accessories and hairstyle they would like for the recital performance.
2010 Picture Days:
W Sand Lake: April 26 - May 1, 2010
E Greenbush: May 3-8, 2010
Class photos are taken at the studio during class time. There is no obligation to purchase these photos nor is there a sitting fee. Our students have the opportunity to be professionally photographed . Students have the option of having individual or small group photos taken, but please only use our photographer's time if you intend to purchase these photos.
On Picture Day: Students should wear light make-up and have their hair neatly done. Please arrive in costume, as we have limited changing areas, unless your teacher says otherwise. Parents are allowed in the classroom at the discretion of the photographer and teacher. CAMERAS (of any kind) ARE PROHIBITED IN CLASSROOMS ON PICTURE DAY.
2010 Picture Viewing Days:
W Sand Lake: June 8, 4-7pm
E Greenbush: June 9 & 10, 3-8pm
Our photographer returns to the studio on Viewing Day with all the proofs. Don't forget to sign up for your picture viewing time on picture day. You can view all of your photos, choose your favorites and place an order with him. If you misssed picture viewing day, please email or call the studio.
Recital Tickets go on sale in May. Families who must attend more than one recital due to scheduling conflicts will receive two (2) complimentary tickets for the second show. Families with outstanding balances on their account are unable to purchase tickets.
Adding to the theater experience, a professional program is prepared for our Recital. The program (which each ticket holder receives free of charge) lists each dance and every performer. It also contains bios of our graduating seniors, well wishes from parents and 5, 10 & 15 year student recognition.
Within the program, advertising spaces are offered for sale, where local businesses (or parents) can wish the dancers luck on their performance. Please ask at the office if you are interested in advertising in our program.
